If you have a few dozen, hundreds or thousands of products, it’s easier to import them all at once rather than manually transferring them into Webship Online. To do this, we’ve created an import feature: you only need to create an Excel list once using a standard template, convert it to a CSV file and then import it to get going.
Make sure all products have a unique code (also called a SKU), as it will be used later on to identify your products.
Importing product files requires you to create a CSV (comma separated values) file. The best way to do this is to create an Excel file and save it as a CSV file or to use an online conversion tool.
Import fields
Webship Online links the column headings from the import file to the corresponding fields in the application. It’s important, therefore, to enter the correct column heading each time. Download your template with the correct column headings here!
The following data can be imported, with the correct column heading displayed in parentheses each time. The required fields when creating new products are indicated in bold. When updating existing products, the mandatory fields do not need to be entered again:
- SKU (sku)
- Barcode (barcode)
- Name (name)
- Description (description)
- Price (price)
- Retail price (retail_price)
- Stock type (stock_type)
- Minimum stock (min_stock)
- Maximum stock (max_stock)
- Minimum order quantity (minimum_order)
- Order quantity (order_multiples)
- Product width (width)
- Product length (length)
- Product height (height)
- Product weight (weight)
- Location (location)
- Batch number (batch)
- Expiration date (expiry_date)
- Notes (note)
- Total stock (total)
Import settings
Webship Online only imports the columns that are present in the import file. If the product’s height is already present in Webship Online and the “height” column header is present in the import file but doesn’t contain any values, the “height” values will disappear during import. If you don’t use the column header “height”, the height information will not be imported or overwritten.
